My dream-come-true trip!
One weekend in Nida with my sister, her children, and a tent.
The famous sand dunes (in the background).
Interesting place. The dead forest. It is inhabited by such amount of birds (most likely phalacrocorax) that the nature hasn't been able to handle the load.
Here we were also wondering, what kind of birds live here..! :) But none. There was a huge fire some years ago and this is what remained.
But don't think that the whole peninsula is covered with the dead forests. Most of the area is green. It just looks so usual that there is no point to take photos.. :)
And on our way back we went to the Riga Zoo. Although I personally don't like the animal prisons too much, the children love it.
Peacock showing his tale. I think it looks pretty interesting from the back side as well! ;)
Funny thing was that the suricates lived almost in open space and unfortunately didn't have any fence or protection from the humans. However, they felt pretty safe. The one was keeping guard all the time while others felt rather comfortable.
